
- The 7.92x24 mm (Normal) cartridge has a max. overall length of 32.4 mm. This is the same overall length as this of the .45 Auto cartridge.The 7.92x24 mm cartridge fits in the .45 Auto frame platforms.
- The 7.92x24mm has a bottom diameter of 9.14 mm compared tot 12 mm of this of a .45 Auto cartridge. This means that in a standard single stack magazine 10 rounds fit in stead of 7 rounds.
- The higher chamber pressure of the 7.92x24 mm cartridge allows to obtain higher bullet velocities then what’s possible with the .45 Auto caliber. This is an advantage for armor piercing purposes.
- The 7.92x24 mm cartridge causes a much lower recoil then the .45 Auto cartridge. Better accuracy during rapid fire or full automatic fire
- The 7.92x24 mm cartridge penetrates a level II jacket with penetrator and sabot. This cause two wound cavities, which increase the likelihood of immediate incapacitation. The .45 sabot is not able to penetrate through the level II body. The likelihood of immediate incapacitation of the 7.92x24 mm cartridge at a level II body armor is even bigger then this of the .45 caliber.
- The 7.92x24 mm cartridge is more suitable for the light weight PDWs then the .45 Auto caliber.
